My Biography
I started teaching later in life after trying the business world for 16 years. I worked at Continental Western, then Tri-State Insurance. After having two boys I decided I wanted to spend more time with them. I became an aid at the middle school in 1998. In 1999 I decided I wanted to be a teacher. Working in the school environment inspired me.
I attended Southwest State and got my degree in 2001. I had a degree from Mankato State in Political Science many years ago. I've discovered teaching suites me much better. In 2010 I achieved my Master’s degree.
I started teaching in third grade then moved to second grade. I then taught fourth grade from 2005-2009. I started teaching 5th grade in 2009-2010. 2014-2015 I moved back to 4th grade to teach English Language Arts.
My husband Mike worked at First Farmer's and Merchants National Bank (the round bank) and is now retired. Our boys Chris, graduated in 2007, and Matt in 2011.
As a family we enjoy music and time at our cabin on Lake Sarah.
We have a cat, Lily, and two dogs, Emma and Miska.

I read this and thought it was a very good message for all of us when we feel like giving up:
“The message from this study is that in order to perform with less effort, keep on practicing, even after it seems the task has been learned,” says Ahmed. “We have shown there is an advantage to continued practice beyond any visible changes in performance.” In other words: You’re getting better and better, even when you can’t tell you’re improving—a thought to keep you going through those long hours of practice."
